Wild and Unwatered

Rain pools in cracked soil,
tangled stems choking under gray skies.
Weeds reach like fingers,
thick and uninvited.
The rusted watering can lies on its side,
overturned and empty,
leaves wilt pressed beneath
like forgotten promises.
I pass the window daily,
blind to the quiet takeover,
a jungle grown in absence,
a garden unclaimed, unloved.
This green chaos thrives
in my neglect,
a mess of life tangled
beyond my reach or care.
