Under the Noise

Third night gone. The city shifts,

A different shape in sleep’s dark drifts.

Found myself beneath the hum,

Where concrete curves keep going numb.

The rain began, a soft attack,

Then stopped, then started, no turning back.

Water ran down the grey, grey wall,

Heard tires drone above it all.
