A Bitter Taste

I bite down hard, the sharp pinch of regret,

the taste of my doubt still lingering yet.

A whisper of salt from the moments I spoke,

a barrier formed from the words that I choked.

The conversation sways like a ship on a tide,

each phrase lost in waves I can no longer ride.

I feel the sharp sting as it breaks through the skin,

a testament written for battles within.

Every taste, a reminder of choices I’ve made,

words stuck in the silence, the truths that invade.

I press with my tongue, hoping to find

a way to release all the knots in my mind.
