In every nook of the city they gather and coo

In every nook of the city, they gather and coo,

wings fluttering wildly, like secrets untold.

Scavengers of pavement, they watch as we do,

dining on crumbs, while their stories unfold.

A flock takes to flight, scattering chaos and noise,

with the grace of the wind and a heartbeat of risk.

They swoop through the alleys, with nature’s poise,

while I sip my coffee, feeling quaintly brisk.

A dropped fry tumbles into a feast for their kin,

as life in the city rushes on by.

Under gray skies, I wonder, how long have they been,

like ghosts in this landscape, drifting on high?
