Childhood Thoughts

The sun slips down, warming the ground,

green blades tickle toes, a soft, gentle sound.

But thoughts twist and tangle in the back of my head,

tangled like wishes I never had said.

I stand in my yard, just a child, just a dream,

every worry weighs heavy, a thick, unseen seam.

While grass cradles feet in its earthy embrace,

my mind drifts away, to a far distant place.

What if I falter? What if I fall?

What if my laughter echoes through empty halls?

Yet here I am, rooted in warmth of the green,

a fleeting reminder of the child I once dreamed.
