Hanging On

In the stillness, I watch a stain,

a ceiling tile bears the weight of pain.

Each tick of the clock drags seconds slow,

conversations echo, barely a flow.

A flickering bulb, a shadow cast,

reminds me of moments I thought would last.

Hopes dangle just out of reach,

as time keeps teaching the lessons we teach.
