A Lesson in Failure

Old report card, a glimpse of that year—

my hands tremble at the sight of red ink

like blood on fresh paper, memories arise,

your voice, a sharp kick, laced with disdain.

A photo found, me, small and tight-lipped,

tightened by fear of failing, of letting down,

while equations swirl, dust gathers,

a chalkboard of dreams untouched and forgotten.
