Subscriptions We Forget

An email pings, unexpected and clear,

a charge appears, a ghost of my year.

A subscription renewed, once vibrant and bold,

yet now just a weight, a tale left untold.

I click through the clutter, my finances drain,

all the little expenses, they scatter like rain.

I remember the thrill of that service once bright,

but in shadows it fades, lost out of sight.

What did I seek that no longer brings joy?

just another reminder, a tired old ploy.

As I cancel the charge, I whisper a sigh,

for all of those things we let slip by.
