Precipice

My breath hitsched, a thief in the night,

as the subway lurches, anxiety stirs.

A moment suspended, in the flickering light,

a kaleidoscope of fear, where my heartbeat blurs.

Crowded spaces feel tight as a fist,

the scent of sweat soaked in sweat stains and doubt.

I grasp for the air, as the world starts to twist,

wrapping me whole as I silently shout.
