The Body's Archive

In the gym, the world bends and shifts,

the air feels thick, like whispered rifts.

A yoga pose, I stretch and lean,

but a sharp twinge calls back what I’d gleaned.

Years ago, I danced on reckless feet,

carefree moments now seem bittersweet.

My ankle aches with a past unspoken,

a memory of daring, now cracked and broken.

I wrap it tight, the bandage pulls skin,

a familiar ache, where I've been.

It’s strange how the body holds onto pain,

while the mind moves on, as if in disdain.
