Forgotten Subscriptions

Another charge on the statement, glaring and bright,

a magazine stacked deep in the corner, out of sight.

I signed up with intent, enthusiasm fresh,

now it feels like a weight, each month, a new thresh.

Pages turn yellow, they gather like dust,

a promise of insight turned trivial, unjust.

The glossy facade holds memories of ease,

now lost in the shuffle, caught in the breeze.
