Human Weight

Two children, they laugh, run free in the park,

one stumbles hard, hits the ground with a spark.

Laughter rolls out, then echoes back home,

as the weight of the world tugs at my bones.

I watch from the sidelines, a faraway view,

the thrill of their lightness reminds me of blue.

Years draw me down, my steps heavy and slow,

as joy gets misplaced, and shadows grow.
