Degrees of Tension

Thermostat’s glow flickers, teetering between cold and hot,

a digital bicker, my roommate's breath on my neck.

We battle over numbers, a frigid retreat,

shivers followed by sweats, a temperature wreck.

All I wanted was comfort, to feel at ease,

but it’s warmer than hell in here,

yet you insist on the freeze.

A war fought in silence, no victor in sight,

as we sweat and we shiver,

a tempest of spite.
