Final Issue

It landed on the mat,

heavy with its own end.

The usual glossy cover,

but a new message penned.

A sticker, small and stark,

across the familiar face:

'Your Subscription Has Ended.'

Leaving an empty space.

Years of this magazine,

stacked on the coffee table, high.

Flipping through the pages,

watching the months drift by.

Now just this one last time,

the scent of fresh ink, fading fast.

No more deliveries,

no future to cast.

It's not a big loss, no crisis,

just a quiet, dull release.

One less thing to expect,

one small piece of peace.

But the shelf looks different now,

a gap where it used to reside.

Another thread untied.
