The steam is flat against the glass

The steam is flat against the glass,

I watch the quiet minutes pass.

I leaned too hard against the sink

while the kettle tried to think.

Now my hip is a greenish-yellow stain,

a quiet, colorful kind of pain.

It looks like a banana left too long

until the sweetness goes all wrong.
