Repeat

The water is taking its time to get hot,

steaming the mirror and filling the spot.

I’m looking at flowers that shouldn't be there,

a mistake in the print that I’ve started to share.

Two yellow petals are mashed into one,

a green little smear where the ink didn't run.

The factory missed it, or didn't much care,

leaving a blemish for someone to stare.

And down at the bottom, a different stain,

fed by the soap and the heat and the rain.

A line of orange mildew, a slow-moving fire,

climbing the plastic like rusted-out wire.
