Overtime

I pressed the pen into the Tuesday square

and felt the paper give and start to shred.

There isn't any room for breathing there,

between the black ink and the lines of red.

My hand is stained a dark and oily blue

where I have leaned against the crowded week.

I’m looking for a hole to wander through,

some quiet space that I forgot to seek.
