Error in the System

At the self-checkout, I wrestle with fate,

my cereal waits, but the scanner won’t mate.

The barcode stubborn, a mockery of trust,

technology falters, as I must adjust.

Frustration bubbles, a human in line,

in a world built on ease, where I’ve lost my shine.

Each beep feels like laughter at my expense,

and I yearn for connection, a moment of sense.
