Unconventional Furniture

On the porch, a milk crate serves as a throne,

bearer of leftovers, the weight of the known.

It bears yesterday’s takeout, crumbs left behind,

a scuffed surface, peeling, stories entwined.

We gather for coffee, the clutter surrounds,

the chaos of life in the laughter resounds.

A simple contraption, it cradles the day,

a testament to moments that just slip away.
