Innocent Weight

Cradled in arms, a spark, a new life,

a warmth so profound, cuts sharp like a knife,

a tiny hand wraps around my finger's space,

a pulse in the stillness, a soft, tender grace.

Every breath taken, each flicker of light,

a moment suspended, where darkness meets bright,

yet fear creeps in, like a thief in the night,

what waits in the future? What hidden fright?

This fragile existence, a heart bare and raw,

can I keep you safe, or is that just a flaw?

I hold you so close, this innocent weight,

where love shimmers gently, and all else can wait.
