I found a roll in the back of the drawer

I found a roll in the back of the drawer,

its edges crumpled, a ghost of the past,

where sandwiches rested, safe from the roar,

of lunchroom laughter and moments amassed.

It gleamed in the light, a shield on my plate,

where secrets were wrapped, so carefully folded,

a thin silver armor against time and fate,

now forgotten, yet still, its stories unfolded.
