Displacement

The radiator drips a steady beat,

the hallway air is stripped of heat.

I climb into the steaming tray,

to hide from all the light of day.

My shins are snapped beneath the glare,

bent by the weight of water there.

My toes are white, a bloodless row,

pressed to the tile, nowhere to go.
