It comes out steaming from the rack

It comes out steaming from the rack,

with a fresh new spiderweb of a crack.

The blue rim is a jagged, broken shore,

where the finish doesn't live anymore.

My fork gets stuck in the unglazed white,

a little hitch in the middle of the night.

I’m eating cold pasta and staring at the wall,

waiting for the rest of the ceramic to fall.
