Stepped out this morning still halfblind

Stepped out this morning, still half-blind,

the air was cold, a sudden, sharp surprise.

Walked right into it, couldn't unwind,

a sticky silk that caught between my eyes.

A phantom touch, across my cheek and hair,

fine threads that glistened, wet with morning dew.

Pulled them free, but felt them hanging there,

a tiny architecture, fresh and new.

Between the door and rose bush, thin and tight,

a trap unseen, just waiting for my face.

It clung, it held, a sudden, fragile might.

My forward step, pulled back into its place.

The obligations, tangled, fine, and strong.

A sudden structure, where I don't belong.

#feeling trapped
