Found it in the dryer vent

Found it in the dryer vent,
hot and scarred and slightly bent.
I held it till the stinging stopped,
then took it to the street and dropped
it through the iron sewer slot.
It hit the water in the pot.
One rim is caught in rotting wood.
It stayed exactly where it should.
