Foil Ghost

The corner store air, thick and sweet,

that cheap chocolate scent.

Makes my pulse skip a little beat,

on old mischief bent.

I can still feel the metallic crinkle,

small foil wrap I’d hide.

Just a quick, furtive twinkle

of something deep inside.

Slipped it in my coat's rough seam,

a victory so slight.

Felt like living out a dream,

bathed in stolen light.

No one ever saw my hand,

just a phantom on command.
