Fractured Breath

A sudden twist on cracked pavement—

a sharp sting beneath ribs,

like a bruise I forgot I had.

Cold air cuts into the ache,

a quick crack, brittle and raw.

Each breath catches, a jagged edge,

a reminder of unseen fractures,

small breaks held inside the chest,

silent and slow to heal.
