Invisible Streets

The backpack shoves, the laugh cuts sharp,

a fistful of strangers pushing past.

Sidewalk cracks swallow worn shoes,

faces fixed ahead, blank and fast.

Streetlight flickers, graffitied bench,

paint chipped like the promises here.

No one looks, no one stops,

just the noise and the rush that blur.

I shrink smaller beneath the sky,

a shadow lost in the city's hum,

not a voice, not a place,

just a breath nobody counts.
