Bare feet, heavy thoughts

Dew-soaked blades pressed soft,

trembling against skin,

a cold pulse that whispered of rain.

But my mind was tangled

in the words I dodged earlier,

the ringing phone unanswered,

the silence heavier than mud.

Grass slick with rain,

a green slip underfoot,

yet I stood still,

feet soaked and numb,

carrying a weight I couldn’t shake,

not even the earth could hold.
