Through the Wall

Laughter breaks loose,
spilling soft through cracked walls.
A sound I can’t hold,
faint shadows pooling under my door.
It carries warmth I can’t touch,
a ripple against the cold silence
I wrap like a coat,
sheltering from noise I don’t know.
The sound floats—
bright, reckless,
something I’m not part of,
a ghost in the quiet,
vanishing too soon.
