Another Loop

The box is almost empty now,

just a few flakes clinging,

and the maze on the back,

same as yesterday, still sits there.

I trace the lines with a spoon handle,

around the cartoon figure

who smiles with too many teeth,

clutching a prize nobody ever wins.

It promises a solution,

a way out, a path to some small victory.

But the corners blur, the ink bleeds slightly,

and I just keep hitting dead ends.

Or maybe I'm looking for the wrong kind of win.
