Silent Phone

Woke up to nothing, just the light,

a flat gray through the pane.

No buzz, no chime, no morning fright,

just quiet, like a drain.

My phone, a dark and sleeping block,

dead in the charging stand.

The alarm, it never made its clock,

a silence I hadn't planned.

Missed the call, the early start,

the whole day out of sync.

A hollow beat inside my heart,

a long, slow, quiet sink.
