Administrative Injuries

The mail is a stack of bright, glossy lies,

inviting me under the credit card skies.

I fan them out quick on the laminate top,

then feel the sharp slide and the sudden stop.

No blood in the line, just a valley of white,

that opens up wide in the grocery store light.

The sanitizer hits with a high-voltage sting,

the only real feeling the letters could bring.
