Indoor Winter

Sixty-two degrees is a dare, not a temperature.

My roommate calls it 'invigorating,'

but I’m wearing three layers of wool

and my coffee is cold in five minutes.

I heard the click from the hallway,

the sound of the system giving up.

There’s a greasy thumbprint on the plastic cover

where the dial was turned back down

into the territory of the miserable.
