The coffee ring is a dark brown stain

on a page that describes a different pain.

I start at the top and I get to the middle

before the whole project feels like a riddle.

The edges are curled where the water sat.

I’m tired of talking and tired of that.

I shove the whole folder under the bills

and wait for the silence that never quite chills.
