Common Knowledge

Two in the morning and the blue light

is carving a hole in my retinas.

'Where does the stamp go?'

'Return address left or right?'

I’ve done this a thousand times.

The white bar blinks, waiting for me

to admit I don't know how to be an adult.

It’s a vacancy in the skull,

a leak I can't plug

no matter how many tabs I keep open.
