Demographic

They’re talking about interest rates and knees,

and how the property tax is a crime.

I’m nodding along, trying so hard to please,

while I’m just wasting everyone’s time.

I had to explain what the 'doge' thing meant.

They looked at me like I spoke in a code.

I feel like a child who hasn't paid rent,

lost on a very expensive road.

Under the table, my sneakers are scuffed.

My laces are frayed and my spirit is thin.

The air in this dining room is heavy and stuffed.

I don’t know how they let me in.
