He wore a suit that cost more than my car

and talked about the rates and where they are.

I let him point his finger at the line

and tell me that the fault was mostly mine.


The highlighter left a yellow stain

bleeding through the paper like a rain.

I nodded slow and played the fool

because 'broke' is a word they don't teach in school.
