Kintsugi for the Impatient

The toast was smoke, the morning late,

I smashed the handle on the grate.

A conference souvenir from June,

ruined by a plastic spoon.

Now there’s a blister on my thumb,

the epoxy makes my senses numb.

I’m gluing back what I shouldn't have hit,

trying to make the pieces fit.
