Dinner Party Drafts

I talked about the ocean and the deep,

while half the table fell asleep.

A film I haven't even finished yet,

a performance I’m starting to regret.

Now I’m home and the air is still,

with a red mark on my aching heel.

The shoes were tight, the words were lies,

and I am the only one I can’t disguise.
