Silver Strand

In the dim bathroom light,

a single silver thread caught my eye.

Darkness broken,

a thin line of unexpected truth.

I pulled at it—not sure if it was mine,

or a sign taped to the mirror.

A quiet shout in the middle of the night,

a wrinkle before the skin.

The hair did not bend,

did not give up,

just stayed there,

a stubborn shard of time.
