Lesson Four, Again

The instructor's thumbnail hasn't changed in two years —

same smile, same backdrop, same confident tilt.

I've bought this course three times in three different tiers

and quit at lesson four. I'm not sure if that's guilt

or just the shape of me. The progress bar

is green and bright and sitting at eleven

percent, which looks, from where I'm sitting, far

too cheerful. Like it thinks I'm close to heaven

or completion or whatever. I found

the old email — two years ago, same platform.

Same course. Same face. I sat there for a round

of twenty minutes. Watched the thumbnail. Then a storm

of nothing, and I closed the tab, and then

opened something else. I'll probably sign up again.
