Unfinished End

The spine cracks

under my thumb,

the final words half-seen

and not quite caught.

Questions curl like smoke,

winding through the room,

a silence that won’t settle,

not with the page closed.

I sit with the ache

of endings undone,

a story left hanging

like breath caught between sentences.

The night holds the last line

like a secret I can’t unfold,

waiting for a meaning

that never arrives.
