Blunt

Found it in a drawer. 2003.

Me at a party, bangs

cut straight across. A ruler

couldn't have done it cleaner.

I thought I looked sharp.

Nobody at work said a thing.

Not one. Not the intern

who told me when I had spinach in my teeth.

That silence is its own review.

Twenty years walking into rooms

forehead halved by a line

I wore like a crown.

The confidence in those eyes.

It doesn't match the hair.

Never did.
