The glass shows back a crooked frame.

The left side doesn't look the same.

The basement step was never there.

I caught the dark and empty air.

The hinge is dry. The joint is tight.

A sudden knob of pearly white

is pressing hard against the mesh.

A secret moving in the flesh.
