in her fevered dreams,

in her fevered dreams,

she runs through the poppy fields

an unyielding joy in her drunken state

when she runs out next week

the guilt will eat her at her feet.

but that isn't a worry for now,

she just wants to stay asleep.

away, forgetting the men in uniform

chasing people down in the streets,

or the general pigs sending out our young

to return home without heartbeats

while our rich overlords

get obscene on child meat

how much longer is this gonna repeat?

choosing to sleep,

and letting someone else fight in your stead

it seems that everyone else

has decided to go back to sleep

I’m a freelance artist with 3 years of experience, and I create visual artwork that can work as an extension of written poetry. I’d love to create something for one of your poems — perhaps an illustration for a particular stanza, a full poem visual, or a scene inspired by its meaning. We can start with a small paid commission rather than a large project, and you can decide afterward if you'd like to continue. If you're interested, I’d love to share my portfolio.
