Self Inflicted

When I pierce myself with a burning blade

and my skin sears

with burns and blisters

who feels the pain?

When I take the words you've carved into me,

a scarred mind,

broken

and embittered

who feels the pain?

Now, there is no enemy outside:

only my mind,

turning against itself.

Yet

Who feels the pain?
