Circumstance

by Alfred, Lord Tennyson · (no date)
Published 01/07/1880

Two children in two neighbour villages

Playing mad pranks along the heathy leas;

Two strangers meeting at a festival;

Two lovers whispering by an orchardwall;

Two lives bound fast in one with golden ease;

Two graves grassgreen beside a gray churchtower,

Washed with still rains and daisyblossomed;

Two children in one hamlet born and bred,

Fill up the round of life from hour to hour.
