Thirst

I moved the electric bill

from the dust on the sill.

The pot is cracked and dry,

but the plant refuses to die.

A fluorescent orange sticker

that says price reduced.

The water it was promised

was never produced.

Everything else in this room

is turning to gray.

But this spiked little thing

decided to stay.
