The insurance portal wants to know

The insurance portal wants to know

my mother’s maiden name

and the street where I grew up

before the neighborhood went strange.

My fingers did the work

before I could tell them to stop.

I typed 'Buster-twenty-ten'—

the dog who’s been under the oak

for five long years now.

The account is a ghost town,

bought out by a bank in Utah.

The screen just blinks red:

'User Not Found.'

A little digital bruise

on a Tuesday afternoon.
